About Puja (Mundan Sanskar – First Hair-Cutting Ceremony)

Mundan Sanskar, also known as Chaul Sanskar, is one of the most significant Shodasha Samskaras (sixteen sacraments) in Sanatan Hindu Dharma. This sacred ritual marks the first ceremonial shaving of a child’s hair, usually performed in early childhood at an auspicious age and muhurat.

According to Vedic beliefs, the hair present at birth carries impurities and negative impressions (doshas) from past births. Mundan Sanskar symbolizes the removal of these impurities, allowing the child to begin life with purity, strength, and positive energy.

The ceremony is performed with Vedic mantras, invoking divine blessings for the child’s health, intelligence, longevity, and spiritual growth. The hair is offered respectfully to a sacred place, river, or temple, symbolizing surrender of ego and negativity.

Mundan Sanskar signifies physical purification along with mental, spiritual, and karmic cleansing, ensuring the child’s balanced growth and protection from negative influences.

Benefits (Significance of Mundan Sanskar)

  • Removes past-life karmic impressions and negativity
  • Promotes healthy hair growth and strong scalp development
  • Enhances mental clarity, intelligence, and memory
  • Protects the child from evil eye and negative energies
  • Strengthens immunity and overall physical well-being
  • Invokes blessings of deities, ancestors, and elders
  • Brings peace, prosperity, and positivity to the family

Mundan Sanskar lays a strong spiritual and physical foundation for the child’s future development.
